Museum Membership: A Tapestry of Time
This is Michael Matsuda, president of the Martial Arts History Museum and let me take a few moments to write about something that is dear to my heart, museum memberships.
A museum is more than just a building filled with artifacts; it's a living, breathing organism, pulsating with the heartbeat of history. And at the core of its existence lies a network of individuals who are more than just patrons; they are members.
To become a member is to weave oneself into the intricate tapestry of time. It's to join a community of like-minded souls who share a deep-seated passion for preserving the past, understanding the present, and shaping the future. It's a commitment that goes beyond a simple monetary donation; it's a pledge of loyalty, a declaration of devotion.
Membership is a bridge that connects generations. It's a way to ensure that the stories of our pioneers, teachers, champions and our martial arts past, are not lost to oblivion. By supporting the museum, we are not just preserving physical objects; we are safeguarding the intangible heritage of our culture.
Each member is a guardian of history, a custodian of culture. Their contributions, both financial and in terms of time and energy, help to keep the museum's doors open, its exhibits vibrant, and its programs accessible to all. They are the lifeblood of the institution, the driving force behind its mission.
In a world that is constantly changing, the museum offers a sense of stability, a connection to the timeless. By becoming a member, we are not just supporting an institution; we are investing in our own future, ensuring that the lessons of the past will continue to inspire and inform generations to come.
This is what we love, the martial arts and we have this one opportunity to a make sure we last for a long, long time. This has not been an easy road, but we did it! This is our 25th anniversary for the museum and throughout this time we have held hundreds of martial arts events. From honor days to movie screenings to craft fairs to lectures and book signings, we have done a lot.
If you have had an honor day, become a member. 95% of those we have honored have never become members. We created a day to honor you, let’s return that by becoming a member. If your picture happens to be on our wall, be excited but also, become a member.
Thankfully, after saving and saving, we finally have a large place but we need your help to keep it going. Become a member and lend us a hand.
Membership is only $50 and it gives you free entrance into the museum all year. It’s both a tax-deduction and a sign of respect. It shows that the martial arts is our passion, it’s what we enjoy and this is our opportunity to give back to the martial arts that have made us what we are today.
